2020 Drive-by Baby Shower
No matter what is happening in the world, life goes on. I have been a best friend to Jessie since she was just a little gal! She is also my beloved cousin. We've shared many of our passions in life together. We have danced together, rode horses, went off-roading, hiked mountains, traveled Europe together, shared in a volunteer ministry together and so much more. So when this "little girl" told me that she was going to be a mommy, I was floored! You could have knocked me over with a feather! I wanted to be a part of every minute of this exciting new chapter! Of course I wanted to shoot her maternity photos, which I'll share with you in an upcoming blog. With this joyous new chapter before us, we planned all that we could to welcome this new life into the world.
Then the pandemic hit! Can you believe it?! I still can't. It's a weird time in history and a challenge for everyone. Nonetheless, we carried on. Questions arose like "Will we still be able have a baby shower if we can't meet in a group? Would we even want to take a chance of passing on the virus to this new mommy?" But she had to have a baby shower! What would we do? We just had to celebrate because this was a huge blessing to our family!
When challenges present themselves, it can push one to get creative. So, my cousin had this great idea of a "drive by baby shower"! Since large groups were prohibited, perhaps dear friends and loved ones could drive by her house in an orderly fashion, drop off a gift and share their warmth and love... and then grab a treat for the ride home!
And that's exactly what we did. My cousin Kelly ( Jessie's sister ) put together a beautiful Drive-by Baby Shower to celebrate little "Daphne Mae". She created a beautiful ambience, inspired by Jessie's childhood and love of fairytales. Jessie and Al were showered with lots of love... from a distance! Brandon and I were so inspired by the whimsical nature of it all and captured all of the loving moments as well as the handcrafted details. So scroll through and be inspired by this special day.
When the world hands us lemons, we'll just use them as decoration for a fun festivity!
The sweet decor reflected her love of storybook fairytales and adventure!
Meet the parents!
Al is the handsome Dad-To-Be and my cousin Jessie is the beautiful, glowing Mama-To-Be!
My husband Brandon and I love bringing the party with us. In our opinion, there is always a reason to be FESTIVE! Everyone that drove up was greeted properly upon arrival... with social distancing measures in place, of course!
In case I didn't mention this, it's a GIRLl! Her name is "Daphne Mae" and she's due next month. These beautiful handcrafted details really paved the way for a magical day!
We had several furry guests join the party! It was pawsitively fantastic! A dog gone blast! :)
If you know me, you know that I am such a family girl. I have truly missed my family during this time. I come from a history of great family outings and fun parties!
Here are the proud "Grandfathers-To-Be"! Grandpa Mike (pictured on the left) will no doubt take her on wilderness adventures and Phil "FangPa" Volk (pictured on the right) will no doubt encourage her musical career! She will be deeply loved and smothered in sloppy, wet grandpa kisses! The best!
We've had many fun times with Jessie & Al! We've practically grown up together and shared in each others milestones in life. We've shared some pretty awesome times together! From glorious hikes to fun-filled Caribbean cruises to tranquil evenings enjoying bon fires under the stars!
We are so excited for them and cannot wait to see them embark on life's greatest adventure : PARENTHOOD!
And don't forget to bring treats on your journey! If you have not tried Crumbl Cookie, you're missing out! I recommend the raspberry cheesecake if they have it that day. They are constantly rotating tasty flavors.
Don't forget to bring the wipes!
Beautiful words, Moria! And I love the extra sprinkle of pixie dust!
Well, I hope that you enjoyed this Drive-By Baby Shower! Feel free to leave a comment. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help. Share the idea with others and may your Drive-By Baby Shower be a great success!
